If you have attended a bunch of NBA games in the last few years, you probably have seen The Amazing Sladek perform his signature act. Perhaps you were on your way to get a soda or a hot dog and stopped in your tracks to see a 59 year old acrobat who wasn’t content to merely climb a stack of precariously placed chairs, but who attempts a death-defying handstand on top of them.

If you were at home watching on TV you might have caught a glimpse of him right after a commercial break, dazzling the Inside the NBA crew. Or maybe, just maybe you were coaching the Western Conference All-Star team and were tickled pink by his performance:

Turns out The Amazing Sladek (civilian name: Gary) is not just “America’s Oldest Acrobatic Daredevil Hand-Balancer,” he’s also a voracious sports fan. And he loves working at basketball games and talking about his run-ins with Shaquille O’Neal, Bill Russell and STUFF. He appears on a special episode of Fastbreak Breakfast to talk about some of his favorite moments and how he hopes to continue dazzling NBA audiences for many more seasons.

In addition, he opens up about the following topics:

  • How did he come up with his chair routine?
  • Does he have a favorite NBA team?
  • Has he ever fallen during his act?
  • Red Panda: friend or foe?
