Carolina Panther QB Cam Newton is often the subject of controversy, gaining critics from his perceived character issues, as well as on the field struggles.

Things are a little different here though, as Newton seems to be the mature party in a situation with a future Florida Gator. C’yontai Lewis, a Tight End commited to the University of Florida, went to twitter to relay the fact that he hazed Newton at the IMG Academy’s NFA 7-on-7 game.

The following are what Lewis posted on twitter:

It is hard to tell what his motivation “was, or if he meant it in jest or in an insulting manner. Florida is a rival of Auburn, the school Newton attended, so it could have just been due to their schools’ rivalry.

Newton did not say anything about the situation himself, but a Florida area media personality, Richard Johnson, took it upon himself to report on the situation:

Cam also claimed that what Lewis did was “disrespectful,” which sounds somewhat ironic coming from Cam’s mouth. Later though, it seems the two talked about it, and there were no hard feelings, as FoxSportsFlorida.com stated that :

"“Johnson tweeted that Lewis got a personalized Auburn jersey with Newton’s name on the back from a teammate’s parent and also took a team picture with him.”"
