Yikes, things are starting to look pretty grim at the wide receiver position for the Philadelphia Eagles and first-year head coach Chip Kelly. First it was Jeremy Maclin going down with a season-ending injury, then the Riley Cooper fiasco occurred, and now it’s being reported that wide receiver Arrelious Benn will also miss the 2013 season with an ACL tear.

The loss is especially devastating since Benn had been playing well during his brief training camp appearances according to Kelly. The 24-year-old receiver has unfortunately been plagued by injury issues throughout his short career, having injured his knee as recently as July 26th.

Benn’s injury leaves the Eagles terrifyingly thin and inexperienced at the wide receiver position. DeSean Jackson is still a big-play threat, obviously, and Jason Avant is by no means a scrub, but it looks like Ifeanyi Momah, Russell Shepard, and Damaris Johnson are going to have to step up this year if the offense has any hopes of being as dangerous as people expect.
