For whatever reason, the Buffalo Bills and Jairus Byrd simply couldn’t find middle ground on a contract. It took them multiple years and there was no shortage of effort on either side, but the two finally parted ways after Byrd signed a six-year deal with the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday night.

Byrd, for what it’s worth said he was open to returning to the Bills and it appears there are no hard feelings as the Pro Bowl talent posted a thank you message to the city and to Buffalo Bills fans on Facebook today.

"It was an absolute blessing to have been a part of the Buffalo Bills for the last five years. Russ Brandon and Ralph Wilson, thank you so much for giving me my start in the NFL. To the entire Bills organization and all of the amazing fans, thank you from the bottom of my heart."

Earlier today, it was reported that the Denver Broncos attempted to sign Byrd before he signed with the Saints.
