Kansas City Chiefs star running back Jamaal Charles is officially inactive for Sundays contest against the Miami Dolphins. He returned to practice last week just days after suffering a high ankle sprain, but he was determined not fit to play.

On the other side of the ball, Miami will be missing their top back Knowshon Moreno who suffered a dislocated elbow in last week’s game and will be out 4-6 weeks.

The Chiefs started 0-2 this year with Jamaal Charles being a sort of non-factor. He’s had just nine rushes for 23 yards and no touchdowns. Knile Davis, replacing Charles, may be what the Chiefs need as he leads Charles in stats this season.

Davis has had 23 rushes for 83 yards and two touchdowns this season. The former Arkansas back is in his second season in the NFL for the Chiefs. Last season, during Charles’ breakout year, Davis sat in the shadows but had 242 rushing yards and four touchdowns rushing.

“When I go in, I know my job has been all week to pay attention to what Jamaal does,” Davis said about last weeks performance. “I’ve been doing good film study, watching him and what he does so if unfortunately he went down I would be able to step in and help out.”

Lamar Miller replaces Moreno Sunday as both teams will be a bit depleted at the running back position.
