Who is going to be the San Jose Sharks captain?

David Pollak, who is a beat writer for the San Jose Sharks, just set every San Jose Sharks fan’s pulse skyrocketing.

The “here” he is referring to, of course, is the press event for the San Jose Sharks- Los Angeles Kings Stadium Series this year.

Some fans were upset that former captain Joe Thornton and alternate captain Patrick Marleau weren’t in appearance, but this is nothing new over the off-season. According to NHL on NBC’s Pro Hockey Talk, the two haven’t been in many promos for the team at all since being stripped of their titles.

The team didn’t make nearly as many off-season moves as fans were hoping, as both Thornton and Marleau are still on the team- and many people weren’t expecting that. The San Jose Sharks had promised to overhaul the team following their catastrophic collapse to the L.A. Kings in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs this past spring. They had gone from being up three games- and outscoring the Kings almost 3 to 1- to losing the final four games of the series.

Personally, I’d like to see Logan Couture wear the ‘C’ in California this summer, but any of the three named at the press event would make good future leaders for a franchise still struggling to win the Stanley Cup.
