Mark Munoz signs new four-fight deal with the UFC

Middleweight contender Mark Munoz has been cleared to resume training, and will start a new four-fight contract in the process.

After being removed from the rankings due to a contract disagreement, Munoz has now agreed terms with the UFC and will look to get back to winning ways in his return. ‘The Filipino Wrecking Machine’ has lost three of his last four, with back-to-back finishes against Lyoto Machida and Gegard Mousasi forcing Munoz out of the top 10 of the middleweight division.

Speaking with MMAjunkie, the 36-year-old veteran confirmed that his immediate future will be inside the Octagon, but did not share an approximate return date after his loss to Mousasi in May.

“There’s no fight on the horizon yet, but I’m definitely looking forward to stepping back inside the Octagon,” Munoz said. “This year hasn’t been quite the year I wanted, but I’m a guy that’s doing a lot of things with my gym, with teaching and running wrestling clinics and having a professional fighting career. Also, having a wife and kids. Sometimes I stretch it too far, but I’m learning how to prioritize.”

Mark Munoz holds wins over Demian Maia, Tim Boetsch, CB Dollaway and Kendall Grove, and is currently ranked #13 in the middleweight division. While Munoz’s UFC career may not be on the line, he needs a win to stay relevant in a talent stacked division.
