Why Philadelphia Eagles would be perfect for ‘Hard Knocks’

With all the drama and stories the Philadelphia Eagles have created this offseason, they are guaranteed to be must-see television this upcoming season.

No one is sure if the Philadelphia Eagles are a train wreck waiting to happen or a team being controlled by some genius who is eventually going to rule the world. Either way, this offseason has pushed them into being one of the most talked about team’s in all of sports.

It all started when they traded their franchise player LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills for Kiko Alonso. The deal was totally unexpected, seemed massively lopsided and left people scratching their heads.

Soon after that, Chip Kelly sent quarterback Nick Foles to the St. Louis Rams for often-injured quarterback Sam Bradford. Again, another deal that left everyone dazed and confused because nobody saw it coming.

After already making some noise in free agency by signing former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Byron Maxwell, they made the monster move of signing former Dallas Cowboy running back DeMarco Murray. It was one of those deals that came out of nowhere, but it came with full force and moved very fast. Oh, and you guessed it, another move that left people stunned.

As if all that wasn’t already enough, the Eagles came out today and out-Eagle’d themselves by signing Tim Tebow as their fourth-best quarterback? As unexpected as all the other moves were, this one definitely takes the cake for the most surprising move of them all.

Because of all this, the Eagles have made themselves the ‘Hard Knocks’ dream team.

Think about it — it’s almost seems too perfect.

The stories that are self-generated simply wouldn’t stop: Tebow and Mark Sanchez picking up on that super long game of Risk that they paused years ago in New York. Bradford will be crazily looking around like a scared little kid that just got forgotten at Wal-Mart, DeMarco Murray will be doing running back drills that are already being done by Ryan Mathews and Darren Sproles, all the while Chip Kelly will be laughing by himself on the sidelines when nothing funny even happened.

Laughing — or crying.

If ‘Hard Knocks’ was must-see television when the super boring Miami Dolphins were on it a few years ago, just imagine what people would do to watch this Eagles team. They wouldn’t be able to get enough.

Even when you set all the jokes aside, this would still be a great team to have on ‘Hard Knocks’ simply because of Kelly. It’s no secret that he is unlike any other coach in the league, and it would be very interesting to follow him around and see all the little things he does with his team.

Unfortunately, the rules the NFL have in place for ‘Hard Knocks’ make the Eagles ineligible for the upcoming season. According to league rules, a team cannot be on the show if they: have a new head coach, made the playoffs in any of the last two seasons or if the team has already been on the show once in the past 10 years.

The Eagles made the playoffs in 2013, and that is all it takes to disqualify them from running.

They would be eligible for ‘Hard Knocks’ two seasons from now if they miss the playoffs this year, but there’s no way the team could be more entertaining than they would be this summer – right?

Hopefully the good people covering the Eagles will be able to tell great stories of how everything is working from the inside, because the world sure would love to know what’s going on.
