Paul Pierce was almost the hero again for the Wizards on Friday night, but it wasn’t meant to be this time around

The Atlanta Hawks will be moving on to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals following their defeat of the Washington Wizards on Friday night, although Paul Pierce almost made that go away with some late-game heroics again.

This time around, though, it just wasn’t meant to be for the Wizards.

In the waning moments of what was another exciting contest between these two teams, the Wizards were down three and they needed another miracle from their veteran star. That being said, he did all he could to come through for his team, making Wizards fans everywhere come out of their seats when he drilled this shot…

It seemed so perfect. It looked to all of us as if the Truth created yet another career highlight for himself and the series would be getting at least another five minutes.

However, after the officials took a good look at the replay, it was clear that Pierce did not have the ball out of his hands in time and the shot was waived off.

Heartbreaking way for the Wizards to end their season.
