The LSU Tigers are allowing the South Carolina Gamecocks to wear their white jerseys this Saturday, and as a result the Bayou Bengals will be wearing a rare uniform combination.

Saturday’s game between the LSU Tigers and South Carolina Gamecocks has an abundance of storylines.
There is the tragic flooding throughout South Carolina in the wake of Hurricane Joaquin, which forced a South Carolina home game to be moved to their opponent’s legendary stadium. In efforts to help the relief effort, the American Red Cross will be on hand to collect water bottles and donations.
The LSU athletic department is doing their part as well. All ticket revenue from the event will go to the Gamecocks’ athletic department, the school’s band will play South Carolina’s fight songs and alma mater, “Sandstorm” will blare on the loud speakers before the opening kick and even cards in the press box have been changed to read ‘Welcome to Williams-Brice Stadium.
You can go ahead and add LSU wearing the uniform combination of white helmets, purple jerseys and white pants for the first time in the modern era to that list of firsts for the game.

Typically, the Tigers wear their classic white jerseys with purple and gold stripes on the shoulders for home games against SEC opponents. But in the spirit of accommodating their guests, they will allow South Carolina to wear white tops, something the Gamecocks had planned for the game before the season.
The last time LSU wore anything other than white for an SEC home game was in 2009, when they defeated the Mississippi State Bulldogs 30-26.
