Waiver Wire Week 14 Playoff Edition

It is time for what we all signed up for back in July or August: the fantasy football playoffs. It is also time that you need to stay active and not just rest on your accomplishments. If you have any players on your team who have been hanging around and not providing such as Peyton Manning, it is time to cut them loose. Listen, I know it is not easy, but even if you don’t need any help for your team you need to play defense and keep your opponent from picking up someone he can beat you with.

There are several players who have gone out for the foreseeable future and are not going to be back for the next three weeks and you need to make some moves and get rid of your guys who are hurt or not playing and pick up the guys who are producing and becoming valuable fantasy assets.

Here are my week 14 waiver wire options:

Next: Quarterbacks

Quarterbacks:

QB – Marcus Mariota – I have been outlining him as a waiver wire pickup for the last three weeks or so and I can’t begin to understand why he still has an ownership rate of under 42% in ESPN.com fantasy leagues. He has two fairly tough weeks with the Jets and the Patroits, but then he gets a decent match-up in championship week 16 with the Texans.

QB – Tyrod Taylor – Taylor looks like he is back on the map for the Bills and for fantasy owners. For the last two weeks he has been well over 200 yards with three passing TDs and he has an excellent match-up this week with the Eagles. If you or your opponent needs a QB this week you need to jump on Taylor if you have room for him.

QB – Jameis Winston – Winston is coming off of what has been a pretty solid run of games. He looks like he has a grip on his offense and he gets a great match-up with one of the friendliest defenses against fantasy quarterbacks with the Saints. They have been shredded by everyone they played. I like Winston in daily leagues and regular leagues this coming week.

**Note – If you are in a deep league and in need of a quarterback this week, give Blaine Gabbert a look. He had a solid week against the Bears last week and gets the QB friendly Browns this weekend.

Next: Running Backs

Running Backs:

RB – Ryan Mathews – Mathews looks like he will finally return this week and should be able to take over the lead back role in the Eagles offense. He has been out for three weeks and should have fairly fresh legs and if he is back he could easily have RB1 upside for the rest of the season that he can see those type of touches. Give him a look in all formats.

RB – Matt Jones – Jones did not have a tremendous week against the Cowboys, but he did see 19 touches. With that kind of work and trip to see the fantasy friendly defense of the Chicago Bears he should make for a good play if you need a RB this weekend.

RB – James White – White is looking like he could be a good add, particularly if you are in a points per reception league. He had 10 catches this past week for over 100 yards and a score and should be the Patriots third down back. It is always hard to trust the Patriots when it comes to backs for me, but he should be a god play going forward.

Next: Wide Receivers

Wide Receivers:

WR – Dorial Green-Beckham – Green-Beckham had a monster game this past weekend and looks like he has developed a nice chemistry with Marcus Mariota. His talent and upside are off the charts and if he can continue to get the targets he got this past weekend he should be a force to reckon with going forward.

WR – DeVante Parker – Parker had another pretty solid week and despite only recording three catches, managed to find paydirt with one of them to salvage his fantasy day. He is a solid waiver wire grab and also has a good match-up with the Giants this weekend so give him a look if you need some WR help.

WR – Brandon Coleman – Coleman finally had a good week after much hype before the season. He recorded four catches with a score and had a solid fantasy day. He is worth a look, but I would want to see a little more consistency before I feel good about using him as a starter.

Next: Tight Ends

Tight Ends:

TE – Charles Clay – With Tyrod Taylor playing well again we also see that Clay has reemerged as well. He caught four of seven targets and turned one of them into a score. Give him a look if you are in need of a TE despite a tough match-up with the Eagles this weekend.

TE – Will Tye – Tye has taken over as the go to tight end for Eli Manning since Larry Donnell has been injured. He has seen 25 targets in his last four games and makes for a decent TE play if you are in need.

TE – Jacob Tamme – Tamme had a very disappointing performance this past week. However, with Leonard Hankerson out of the lineup, Tamme has been a pretty solid play this year. I am expecting him to bounce back so long as Hankerson stays out. Give him a look if you are in need of TE help.

As always we thank you for stopping by and wish you all the best of luck in your fantasy football playoffs.
