Metallica will be performing the national anthem before Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final.

Just a day after the Golden State Warriors had Carlos Santana perform an epic version of the national anthem, the San Jose Sharks plan to raise the bar even higher. James Hetfield and Kirk Hammet from the legendary rock band Metallica will be performing the Star Spangled Banner before Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final. If that doesn’t get you pumped up for hockey, you might need to see a cardiologist.

The rock band is from the Bay Area and are noted Sharks fans. Hetfield even opened the door for the Sharks for Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals. Back in January, the Sharks hosted a night to honor the infamous rock band.

This has the potential to be even better than Jimi Hendrix’s rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, depending on your music choice. Since the Sharks are already going to have Hetfield and Hammet at the game, they would be wise to just have them out there a few minutes earlier so they can play “Seek and Destroy” for the Sharks entrance. The Sharks already have the best entrance in all of professional sports. Why not raise the bar to an impossible to top level?

San Jose will be looking to win Game 4 to tie the Stanley Cup Final at two games a piece against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Having Metallica play what is sure to be an awesome rendition of the national anthem is a good way to get pumped.
