Marcin Gortat apparently hangs out with the giraffe that was named after him

Marcin Gortat takes his even-toed ungulate mammal namesakes very seriously.

The Washington Wizards big man tweeted a photo himself hanging out with two horses and a giraffe, each of which he claimed as his own:

I know what you’re thinking: There’s no way Gortat owns a giraffe. Not even he’s that cool. And you’re right.

Probably.

Sort of.

Back in April, the Warsaw Zoo in Poland named a baby giraffe after The Polish Hammer, coining him “Gortat.” Our friend Marcin then posted pictures of himself bottle-feeding that baby-turned-adult-looking giraffe sometime in June:

We are going to assume Marcin’s latest picture is of his buddy Gortat, and that he doesn’t actually own a giraffe. And while that’s fairly disappointing, it’s pretty damn cool that John Wall’s favorite pick-and-roll target still, ostensibly, takes time out of his schedule to check in with his, um, young protegé.

Besides, this doesn’t mean that Marcin won’t one day own a giraffe. This is the same dude who once autographed a baby’s forehead. Thus, that also makes him the type of dude who could, eventually, raise a herd of giraffes, a team of horses and, perhaps, a fleet of kangaroos.

For now, we’ll just have to settle on him spending time with his long-necked buddy. In the event he ever breaks into the giraffe-fostering market, we’ll have a 10,000-word opus on the legend that is Marcin Gortat locked and loaded and ready to go.
