People spend the NBA offseason in different ways. Some people go on lovely vacations to Croatia. Some people try to work out on specific aspects of their game in order to incorporate a new weapon into their on-court arsenal. Some people spend inordinate amounts of time putting together videos about people named Chris. Shelvin Mack high fived a dolphin.

That’s pretty neat, but it’s worth going a bit deeper than surface-level neatness.

More from NBA

Can Shelvin Mack communicate with underwater creatures? It’s hard to say from this picture alone, but it also provides no evidence that he can’t. Good communication is important for a point guard, and while basketball is rarely played underwater, you never know when a talent like this might be crucial to the outcome of an NBA game. This can only be a good thing.

Can Shelvin Mack orchestrate elaborate high-five routines with underwater creatures? This picture only offers a single point of hand-to-fin contact, but we are all aware of the power of individualized high-five routines among NBA players and colleagues. I think it’s safe to assume Shelvin Mack can get something a little more out of this dolphin than just what’s shown here. They have a bond now, I’m sure.

Who are Shelvin Mack’s sponsors? Here we see an Adidas hat, Nike tank-top, and some cool, stripey shorts of undistinguished provider. Now, it’s rarely ideal to mix brands for professional athletes in public settings, but I think it’s safe to say this qualifies as one of those rare moments. Adidas, Nike, and Stripe-Producer-‘x’ are all attached to the man attached to the hand touching a dolphin. There’s more than enough dolphin dap to go around, and I think all parties would be satisfied. There is sharing in this world, and Shelvin and sharing start with the same phoneme.

Next: Here is that Chris themed video

Who sponsors the dolphin? And can it be me? I’ve never done that before, but now seems like a good time to start.
