Westbrook Jr. could be on the way. The MVP candidate announced on Instagram that he and his wife are expecting their first child together.

No one can stop Russell Westbrook this season. He is on track to average a triple-double, a feat that’s only been accomplished by Oscar Robertson. With the postseason quickly approaching, Westbrook is determined to position his team with the highest possible seed for the playoffs.

However, the Oklahoma City Thunder point guard is expecting more than just the Most Valuable Player award. Westbrook took to Instagram today to announce he and his wife, Nina are expecting their first child in May.

Westbrook didn’t give a definitive date, but the birth is scheduled to occur while the Thunder are in the first or second round of the playoffs, assuming they make it that far. According to NBA, the Thunder are riding a four-game winning streak and are just a game and a half behind the Memphis Grizzlies for the sixth seed in the west.

Just last night against the Utah Jazz, Westbrook posted his second consecutive 40 point triple-double, his fourth consecutive overall, and his 30th on the season. That stat in itself is insane. If you were wondering, his averages on the season are 31 points, 10.6 rebounds and 10.3 assists per game. If he can get his team to 50 wins, Westbrook would seem to be a lock to win the MVP.

Although James Harden, his main competitor for the award is having a career year, what Westbrook is doing is unprecedented. If Westbrook can sustain this level of play for the remainder of the season, he will win his first MVP.

On the other hand, having a child is perhaps the most life-changing moment in anyone’s life. Could we see a different side to Westbrook after the birth?
