A tradition like no other! It’s time for One Shining Moment!

Come on, let’s admit it. The only reason any of us watch the NCAA Tournament is for One Shining Moment. That wonderful montage fills us with so much happiness that not even this year’s poor reffing could ruin it. It’s a tradition that others try to match but can not be rivaled. It is a shining moment if, you will.

This year’s montage obviously featured Gonzaga and North Carolina, but it also included Northwestern, Wisconsin, and of course Duke being eliminated quite early. Surprisingly, not a whole lot of Xavier despite their deep run through the tournament as a low seed. Also, nowhere near enough South Carolina who were the true Cinderellas of the tournament. Of course, other teams like Michigan and and Iowa State made quick appearances as well, but they didn’t get too much time on screen. That was reserved for some of the stronger games in the later rounds, and there was a lot of really great games late.

Best part of the One Shining Moment video has to be the memories that flood back in of what’s been a fun tournament. There was some concern about it when the first two days were left without upsets. The tournament is entirely built on upsets and buzzer beaters to shake up the brackets. It’s why March Madness is called March Madness, and luckily the later rounds of the tournaments delivered. The second round was full of upsets with top seeds like Villanova and Louisville falling. Then the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight brought the best and most exciting basketball of the tournament. Florida vs Wisconsin and Kentucky vs North Carolina got a large chunk of the montage for their exciting finishes.

Another year, another tournament. This wasn’t the best, but it gave us some absolute classic games. North Carolina and Kentucky fans are going to be talking about their Elite Eight matchup for a very long time, and anybody that witnessed the ending of Wisconsin vs Florida is going to have a hard time properly explaining how great that was.

Gonzaga fans will have a bittersweet feeling knowing they fell just short of the ultimate goal, but also reached their farthest point of the tournament ever. South Carolina fans probably feel the same way.

Just always remember, You’re my one shining momenttttttttttttttttttttttt. You are all my dreams come trueeeeeeeeeeeeee.
