The Chicago Blackhawks face the Nashville Predators in game 3 of their NHL playoff series at Bridgestone Arena on Monday, April 17.

The Chicago Blackhawks entered the playoffs as the favorites, but after two games they have yet to win a game. Nashville Predators’ goalie Pekka Rinne has been fantastic, stopping all 59 shots he has faced for back-to-back shutouts. If Rinne continues his unbelievable play, the Predators could ride him deep into the playoffs.

After losing 1-0 in game 1, the Blackhawks were blown out 5-0 in game 2. Nashville center Ryan Johansen scored one goal and added two assists in game 2. The former fourth overall pick now has four points in the series. In addition to his shutout in game 2, Rinne added two assists.

Chicago is really in tough to beat the Predators. At Bridgestone Arena this season Nashville is 24-9-8. The Blackhawks need significantly better play in net from Corey Crawford. In two games Crawford has allowed six goals on only 49 shots. Crawford has the lowest save percentage of all 16 starting goalies in the NHL playoffs after two games.

NHL teams who have lost the first two games in a playoff series have gone on to win 12.7 percent of the time. If the Blackhawks and Predators split the next two games, history says that the team that goes down 3-1, only wins the series 8.7 percent of the time. If Chicago loses game 3, they will look to become the fifth team to overcome a 3-0 series deficit in NHL history.
