Portugal face Mexico at the Spartak Stadium on Sunday, July 2. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

Portugal and Mexico are facing off Sunday for third place in the Confederations Cup. Each side lost a demoralizing semifinal just a round earlier. Portugal lost on penalties to Chile and a young Germany team soundly beat the Mexicans 4-1. Each team’s flaws and missed chances led them to this moment. Portugal couldn’t capitalize on a few easy chances against Chile. Mexico were outmatched defensively and couldn’t handle the physicality of the Germans in the midfield.

Mexico are one of the few team’s at the Confederations Cup to send their best rosters to Russia. They expected to make it to the final, and competing for third place will be a disappointment. However, being presented with an opportunity to beat one of the world’s best in Portugal will surely provide Mexico enough motivation to play hard.

The Portuguese mindset is tough to gauge. However, assuming they send out the first team, Cristiano Ronaldo and co. have a chance to win. Andre Silva has had the tournament of a lifetime before his move to AC Milan and will be looking to add onto his already great performance. Without missing so many chances against Chile, Portugal would be in the final against Germany. They played Chile wire to wire, and despite awful penalties looked good enough defensively to stifle anyone in the world.
