DraftKings PGA: PGA Championship

The 4th major is upon us. The best golfers travel to St. Louis’s Bellerive Country Club for the PGA Championship. If you want picks and a course preview that can be found here. Listening to some of the best players press conferences, it sounds like the course will play easier than we originally thought. The course is holding a lot of rain water currently, so the greens will be slow (for a major) and these wide fairways will be tough to miss. Tiger Woods suggested that golfers with a high ball-flight may be at a distinct advantage. I tend to like bombers in wet conditions as well, because less roll and its easier to plug wedges.

But enough about the course! You want to know which golfers are going to garner the highest ownership. While we all know this is not an exact science, I have done fairly decent with ownership projections this year. Just know, even though I give a percentage, use that percentage as a qualitative guideline rather than an exact value. But I’m confident it will be close for this weeks DraftKings Millionaire Maker tournament. Without further ado…

PGA Championship – Low-Ownership Sleepers

$8,600 Alex Noren (4-6%)

It has been a while since I have played Alexander Noren with absolute confidence. This is one of those weeks. He was working his irons and flat stick at Firestone, and should feel very comfortable at Bellerive this week, setting up well for this course. I see Noren drastically outperforming his price and notching his 8th top-10 of the season.

$8,000 Bubba Watson (8-10%)

Maybe its the wrong play, but I am all in on lefties this week. I am rostering my fair share of Phil, Bubba and Harman lineups. Bubba is just too good of a player to be priced and owned this low. If he didn’t burn me at the RBC Canadian, I would be rostering him above the 50% at which I currently sit.

$7,200 Kevin Chappell (1-3%)

Chappy could not putt to save his life at The Bridgestone Invitational. Chappell was plus on driving and approaches, but bled all his strokes on the green. I am hoping that he can be better this week, with the greens being slow and waterlogged.
