The Cleveland Browns would be making a splash by signing Dez Bryant, and they should get the deal done.

Having been recently released by the Dallas Cowboys, superstar wide receiver Dez Bryant might be on the verge of taking his talents to the AFC … more specifically, the eternally rebuilding Cleveland Browns.

The 29-year-old Bryant spent the last eight seasons in Dallas, having been drafted by the Cowboys in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft, but things didn’t end on good terms with the team. He was officially released back in April, and Cleveland has been a hot topic of discussion as a potential landing spot for the three-time Pro Bowler.

The Browns are very open to the idea of bringing an established star like Bryant to town, especially considering they are trying to scoop themselves off the ground from last season’s 0-16 campaign.

“It’s a discussion,” said Browns head coach Hue Jackson, via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “We have a lot of good things going, but at the same time I don’t think you can have too many good football players as long as they fit and as long as it’s the right fit for the organization, for the locker room and for all involved.”

The Browns have new management in the front office, mainly general manager John Dorsey, and this would definitely be considered a big splash for a team that has been down in the dumps for years. Cleveland also has a new quarterback in Tyrod Taylor, whom they plan on being their starter for the 2018 season, as well as a franchise quarterback of the future in Baker Mayfield, whom they drafted with the first-overall pick back in April.

Both Taylor and Mayfield, regardless of who ends up getting more playing time this year, would benefit greatly from having a target like Bryant, alongside newly acquired receiver Jarvis Landry as well. Together, Bryant and Landry would make a pretty formidable receiving duo.

Bryant is scheduled to meet with the Browns later this week, and the team would be smart to get a deal done as soon as possible.
