Bellator 208: Fedor Emelianenko vs. Chael Sonnen weigh-in results.

All main event fighters stepped on the scales on point, including the main and co-main event fighters, but the same can’t be said for the preliminary bouts. Three fighters on the Bellator 208 undercard came in heavy. Frank Buenafuente weighed in at 146.2, for his featherweight bout with James Gonzalez, who also missed weight, coming in 1.8 pounds heavy for the bout at 147.8. Jamal Pottinger came in a whopping 181.2 for his 175-pound catchweight fight with Robson Gracie Jr. making him a cringe-worthy 6.2 pounds over the limit.

Due to the massive overage on Pottinger’s part, his bout with Gracie Jr. has been scrapped as well as Buenafuente vs. Gonzalez who both came in overweight.

The main event is the last of the Heavyweight World Grand Prix semifinals and the winner will face whoever is wins the Bellator 207 main event on Friday night. It will be either Matt Mitrione or Ryan Bader who will head to the final round.

Emelianenko defeated Frank Mir during the first round of the tournament to advance to the semi-finals but lost his previous bout with Bader which could make things interesting if Bader and Emelianenko are paired in the final round.

Sonnen topped Quinton “Rampage” Jackson in the opening rounds of the tournament and secured a decision win over the UFC vet. He’s riding on a two-fight win streak with back-to-back wins over Jackson and Wanderlei Silva.

The co-main event features a lightweight matchup of UFC vet Benson Henderson and Bellator standout Saad Awad. Henderson hasn’t had much luck in the Bellator cage going 2-5 in his promotional showings, but he’s coming off a victory over Roger Huerta and is looking to capitalize on that momentum. Awad has won four of his last five bouts including a first-round TKO of Ryan Couture at Bellator 201.
