Batwoman is the newest addition to the Arrowverse on the CW. Here’s what you need to know to watch the series premiere on TV and online.

There’s a new Bat in town and she’s not waiting for a man to save her. Kate Kane is ready to defend Gotham City as Batwoman while Batman is away, and she has a lot of tricks up her sleeve that would make Bruce Wayne envious. Batwoman joins the Arrowverse with her own show after Kane’s highly anticipated cameo in last year’s Elseworlds crossover event.

Like so many DC Comics characters, there are several origin stories featuring Batwoman. In some spheres, she’s Bruce Wayne’s cousin and in others, she’s a combat veteran with her own agenda and method to keeping Gotham City safe.

What we know about this incarnation of the character is that Batman has been gone for three years and she’s stepping in to take care of things when crime in Gotham threatens to take over.

Here is the TV Guide episode description of the Batwoman pilot episode:

“In the series premiere, Kate Kane returns home when the Alice in Wonderland gang targets her father and his security firm by kidnapping his best officer—and Kate’s ex-girlfriend—Sophie Moore.”

It will be interesting to see how deep the pilot episode ventures into Kane’s origin story, and whether she will start as Batwoman or if we see her origin story in flashbacks. And we can only hope that other members of the Bat Family make an appearance at some point. Having Nightwing, Batgirl, or even one of the Robins show up would be a lot of fun to see.
