As the 2010s have come to a close, it’s time to look back on the 10 best college football games of the decade.
College football was eventful, wild, and wonderful throughout the 2010s. While many of the seasons may have felt repetitive at times given that it seemed as if the same few teams controlled the sport each and every year, there were plenty of great games that thrilled and captivated audiences.
From high stakes matchups to games with absurd endings to stars improbably willing their teams to victory, the 2010s had something for everyone.
Here are the top 10 college football games from the past decade:
No. 10: 2013 BCS Championship: Florida State vs. Auburn
The 2013 BCS Championship signaled the ending of an era of college football as the College Football Playoffs were set to begin during the following season.
Considering that and the fact that the youngest Heisman winner up to that point was set to play in the game, and it’s easy to see why the championship game between Florida State and Auburn was set to be memorable before kickoff even happened.
Jameis Winston and the Florida State Seminoles got off to a slow start and the Tigers ultimately held a 21-10 halftime lead. But the game wasn’t over at halftime and somehow, Winston got the Seminoles going in the second half.
FSU had a remarkable comeback, scoring 24 points in the second half while Auburn only scored 10. The two teams traded scores late in the fourth quarter, but FSU was able to get the last laugh in as the Noles scored a touchdown with 13 seconds remaining, far too few for Auburn to attempt to retake the lead.
