Norwegian wunderkind Erling Haaland delivered another extraordinary performance to give Borussia Dortmund a first-leg victory over PSG in the Champions League.

Erling Haaland, the rising-star striker who joined Borussia Dortmund last month, continues showing early signs of absolute greatness.

On Tuesday he made his first Champions League appearance with his new club and scored twice to earn Dortmund a crucial 2-1 win over Paris Saint-German in the first leg of the Round of 16.

It was yet another remarkable performance for the 19-year-old Norwegian, who became the youngest player to reach 10 goals in the Champions League. Haaland is only the second teenager in history to do so, a feat that was first accomplished by his rival on Tuesday night, PSG’s Kylian Mbappe.

Haaland’s 69th- and 77th-minute goals have secured Dortmund an advantage over their French counterparts, who could only score once via a Neymar equalizer in the 75th minute.

Speaking of Mbappe, the young attacker was instrumental in PSG’s goal, as his dazzling run and precise playmaking created the opportunity for the Brazilian star’s finish. Also noteworthy was another Dortmund newcomer, 17-year old American Giovanni Reyna, who made the skillful run and pass that led to Haaland’s decisive left-footer.

But PSG will have to return home once again disappointed, after a lackluster showing in Germany, part of a decade-long history of under-performing in the important knockout matches.

Haaland, however, is the story of the day.

He’s now the joint-top scorer in this season of the Champions League.

Without a doubt, the former RB Salzburg forward is quickly carving his path to superstardom. Tuesday’s spectacular double has added another chapter to his growing legacy, silencing the naysayers, and provoking amazed reactions from around the world of soccer.

There’s still one more game to go in this fixture, and Neymar’s away goal might represent a slight advantage for PSG as they head home for the second leg in Paris, but it will undoubtedly be a must-see event.

Next. Young American Gio Reyna won’t be under the radar much longer at Dortmund. dark
