Fantasy football: FanDuel NFL 2020 best lineup for Week 13
By Nick Villano
Quarterback: Philip Rivers $7,000
This is a very strange week for quarterbacks. Justin Herbert is taking on the New England Patriots and might not be worth the risk against that secondary ($7,900). Kyler Murray is dealing with a shoulder injury that clearly hurt his value last week against those same Patriots ($8,700). Russell Wilson is facing the putrid New York Giants secondary, but without Daniel Jones, it could be a Chris Carson game. Deshaun Watson plays an Indianapolis Colts team without Will Fuller, who was suspended ($8,200). This is how this lands on the surprising answer of Philip Rivers.
Obviously, this is somewhat of a risk, which is scary at the quarterback position. However, he’s had at least 16 points in five of his last six matchups and 20 in three of those. This week, he’s facing a Houston Texans team that will have a lot of trouble stopping the Colts offense. Rivers could make a mistake and throw an interception, but he could have four touchdowns through the air against this secondary.
Plus, the Texans are going to be slinging it as much as possible. Without Fuller, it will be hard for Watson to really make as much of an impact as he has in weeks past. He might do well since he’s had an extra three days off, but that’s also a risk. Also, Denico Autry and DeForest Buckner will likely return from the COVID list barring any setbacks.
Rivers is going to have a lot of opportunities to throw, and Frank Reich will put together a gameplan to help him win. The Texans defense can get pressure sometimes, but Rivers has 25-30 point upside this week playing against this secondary.
Other Options: Aaron Rodgers $8,500, Ryan Fitzpatrick $7,400
