DeVonta Smith makes dream come true for Alabama professor
By John Buhler
DeVonta Smith made one of his professors feel part of the Alabama football team this season.
Alabama football star DeVonta Smith paid it forward this season, as he gave one of his college professor’s an unforgettable on-field experience of a lifetime.
One of the 2020 Heisman Trophy winner’s professors at the University of Alabama Neika Nix-Morgan mentioned that one of her dreams was to stand on the Bryant-Denny Field turf during a football game. Fate would have it Smith would earn Student Athlete of the Week honors and was able to grant Nix-Morgan’s wish. He even sent her a thank you note for being such a great teacher.
DeVonta Smith embodies everything the Heisman Trophy stands for
As Smith and his Crimson Tide teammates prepare for the Ohio State Buckeyes in the 2021 National Championship game, we would be remiss to not discuss the high character Smith possesses as a man. Doubted for being undersized his whole life, Smith used that as motivation to be the first wide receiver to win the Heisman Trophy since Desmond Howard did it back in 1991.
Smith was already an Alabama legend for being on the receiving end of second-and-26 in the final game of his freshman season. He projects as a top-10 pick in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft as one of the first receivers off the board. His football talent is undeniable, but it is is character that sets him apart from many of his peers. Smith is the crown jewel of Wide Receiver U in Tuscaloosa.
Look for Smith to make big plays Monday, as well in his promising NFL career as a wide receiver.
