Joel Embiid led the Philadelphia 76ers over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night and had a special message for Rudy Gobert afterward.

Last night’s matchup between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Utah Jazz was heavily anticipated. Both teams came into the game the leaders of their respected conferences and are expected to contend for the championship this summer. The battle certainly did not disappoint as Philly walked away victors in a 131-123 overtime finish.

The 76ers improved to 24-12 thanks to Embiid’s performance and that of Tobias Harris, who scored 11 of his 22 points in overtime and another 17 points from Ben Simmons. Joel Embiid went off for 40 points and 19 rebounds in the game and hit a tying 3-pointer late in regulation to push it to OT.

After the game, Embiid made sure to deliver a special message for Jazz big man Rudy Gobert.

Embiid had a little extra motivation heading into the Sixers’ matchup with the Jazz on Wednesday. He would be facing former Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert, who is alongside Embiid in this year’s MVP conversation. Embiid, a four-time All-Star, made it known that he too covets the prestigious award that Gobert has already twice secured.

“I want to dominate on the offensive end, but mainly the defensive end. That’s the goal I set for myself at the beginning of the year,” said Embiid.

After the game though, his energy was aimed at Gobert much more aggressively.

With the guys in the league being so friendly these days, NBA fans have to appreciate the fact that Embiid is keeping trash-talking alive. Gobert wasn’t the only member of the Jazz to fall victim to his trolling. He also went after Donovan Mitchell after he was ejected from the game.
