It’s officially official. Tim Tebow has signed his contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars where he’ll reunite with his college coach, Urban Meyer.

After a week or two of talking about the impending likelihood of Tim Tebow signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars, the inevitable has happened. Tebow, 33, is a member of the Jaguars and will wear No. 85.

The former Heisman winner and national champion at Florida reunited with his college coach with Urban Meyer giving him a tryout to make the team as a tight end. This is a position he has never played before and he has been out of the NFL since the 2015 preseason after busting as a former first-round pick as a quarterback.

“I want to thank the Jaguars for the opportunity to compete and earn the chance to be part of this team,” Tebow said in a statement. “I know it will be a challenge, but it is a challenge I embrace. I am dedicated to taking the direction of our coaching staff and learning from my teammates. I appreciate everyone’s support as I embark on this new journey.”

Tebow’s addition to the Jaguars has been criticized far and wide by those in the media and casual fans alike. Now that the Jaguars have announced the signing of Tebow, social media had a field day reacting to the news.

Not all of the reactions were that negative. There was at least one person happy to hear about Tebow getting yet another opportunity.

The positive reactions to Tebow signing with the Jaguars were definitely limited. I searched and searched on Twitter and couldn’t find anything else. The majority of fans can barely even feign any sort of emotion or reaction because they’ve been through this publicity stunt with Tebow before.

Remember his minor league career with the Mets?

Remember the Jets and Patriots giving him a chance to salvage his career?

Chances are Tebow will not survive the first or second wave of cuts in training camp. But, if Tebow does make the roster, then you can expect the reactions to be intense and overwhelmingly negative because some deserving rookie or veteran who has committed to playing the game will have been denied an opportunity. And there could be some animosity within the locker room and among the coaches if this happens.
