Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott will get another MRI on his throwing shoulder.

Dallas Cowboys training camp has been a bit more stressful than in years past. With their season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers less than a month away, the Cowboys are monitoring quarterback Dak Prescott, who suffered a shoulder injury back on July 28. Cowboys fans may need to brace themselves for this latest update.

While speaking with the media on Wednesday, Prescott revealed that he is getting another MRI on his right shoulder once the team returns to Dallas from Oxnard, Calif.

Cowboys: Dak Prescott set to undergo another MRI on right shoulder

While the second MRI will certainly raise some eyebrows, Prescott stressed that “the plan” is that he will be good to go for Dallas’ third preseason game against the Houston Texans on Aug. 21. While that’s great and all, it will all be dependent on the imaging results.

After Prescott pulled himself from that practice in July, an MRI revealed that he had suffered a muscle strain in his right shoulder.

The Cowboys made it crystal clear this offseason that they believe in Prescott’s ability to lead the team back to the Super Bowl after they signed him to a huge four-year, $160 million contract. After watching those behind Prescott on the quarterback depth chart struggle last season following his season-ending ankle injury, the Cowboys had no hesitations in locking him in to a long-term deal.

All Cowboys fans can really do is take the wait and see approach regarding Prescott. Whether that is finding an update on their social media feeds or through the latest episode of HBO’s “Hard Knocks.”
