76ers’ Ben Simmons selling property in Philadelphia

Ben Simmons listed his Ritz-Carlton residence for sale, furthering his stance that he will never play for the Philadelphia 76ers again.

Time is ticking between the Philadelphia 76ers and Ben Simmons. The organization’s No. 1 pick in the 2016 NBA draft has made it clear that he refuses to step on the court for Philadelphia at Wells Fargo Center again. There has to be little optimism left, if any, that Ben is going to return to the team.

Perhaps the 76ers are going to take Simmons more seriously now that he’s listed his Ritz-Carlton residence on the market for $3.1 million.

The point guard listed his Philadelphia property on the market on Sunday.

This breakup just got a lot messier. Philadelphia coach Doc Rivers spoke out publicly on ESPN saying that he wanted Simmons to return to the team, but Ben’s actions haven’t reciprocated that same love.

Simmons also owns a property in Moorestown, an eastern suburb of Philadelphia that’s located in New Jersey, but sources close to him have said that he plans on putting that on the market, too. The 76ers have to be past the point of denial and entering the stages of acceptance now that Ben will soon no longer own a home in the City of Brotherly Love.

The 76ers have started to fine Simmons $360,000 per missed game. Money doesn’t seem to be an issue for him, as he most recently bought a farmhouse in Southern California this summer. However, Ben might as well add some more money to his pockets.

One thing’s for sure, Simmons won’t be able to crash on Joel Embiid’s couch if he does miraculously decide to return to Philadelphia.
