LSU football fans are ready for the program to move on from Ed Orgeron as head coach and replace him with Penn State’s James Franklin.

The LSU Tigers won the CFP National Championship after their historic 2019 season under the helm of head coach Ed Orgeron. The 2020 season turned out to be a disaster for LSU football, and as it turns out, 2021 was no better.

LSU were 3-2 on the season entering Saturday night, and they fell to 3-3 after losing to the undefeated Kentucky Wildcats 42-21. Tigers fans were so frustrated in the middle of the game, that they actually took to Twitter to express their desire for the football program to replace Orgeron with Penn State head coach James Franklin.

LSU fans want James Franklin to replace Ed Orgeron

Franklin is being brought up as a replacement for LSU due to the Nittany Lions head coach being linked to the USC Trojans vacancy. After USC fired head coach Clay Helton, a source told NBC’s Dan Patrick that there was “mutual interest” between the school and Franklin for the gig. That came a day after Franklin gave a non-denial denial about being linked to the USC job.

Just last year, prior to the 2020 campaign, Franklin signed a six-year contract worth up to $38.2 million plus incentive bonuses to remain at Penn State through the 2025 season.

Would Franklin consider leaving Penn State for LSU if the school were to part ways from Orgeron. Who’s to say? Regardless, LSU football fans were not pleased with the play of the team under Orgeron on Saturday night. So much so, that they are already looking at potential replacement candidates.
