The college football world is reacting to the Michigan State Spartans surging back to beat the Michigan Wolverines.

In an improbable and impressive fashion, the Michigan State Spartans came back to beat the Michigan Wolverines Saturday afternoon. After trailing 30-14 about midway through the third quarter, Mel Tucker’s Spartans mounted an impressive comeback to win 37-33.

This contest was monumental for the national title picture and the Big Ten championship picture. Michigan losing this game likely gets Michigan State right in the midst of the college football playoff discussion while at the same time making it difficult for the Wolverines to even win their division.

Michigan State beating Michigan may have been the game of the year

Tucker deserves a ton of credit for how quickly he’s turned Michigan State around. The Spartans were a bit of a mess prior to his arrival and now they’re one of the best teams in the country this season.

The game itself was incredible. Michigan State completing the comeback to win at home in a rivalry game? Just an incredible story as part of an impressive, special season.

Folks will be talking about the referees and the potential impact their presence had on this game for a little while.

And now, after losing to the Spartans for two years in a row, along with generally underachieving throughout his tenure, is it time for Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh to leave town? Or can this season be salvaged?

Harbaugh’s seat might be heating up after the Wolverines blew the lead in this game and had their season spoiled in the process.
