ESPN’s College GameDay is headed back to Ole Miss and Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin has extended an invitation for Katy Perry to return where she had an iconic appearance in 2014.

It has been a little while since ESPN’s College GameDay has ventured over to Oxford, Mississippi, but that’s changing this weekend.

As the Texas A&M Aggies get set to face the Ole Miss Rebels, the College GameDay crew will be on-site to preview the game.

Oxford, Mississippi, it’s been a few years, but it is officially your turn to host the famed college football pregame show once again.

ESPN’s college football pregame show hasn’t been to Oxford since 2014 when Ole Miss toppled the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide with Katy Perry present as the celebrity guest picker. Then Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze was in his third season with the Rebels and he was building a pretty impressive program at that time.

It’s been a little bit since the show was in the Grove, but that’s not all that shocking considering how the Rebels have struggled in recent years.

But they aren’t struggling right now.

Lane Kiffin, in his second season, has Ole Miss in the midst of a special season. Things seem to be going well for the Rebels this year. Despite the injuries that Ole Miss has experienced, the Rebels are sitting at 7-2 and could certainly go on to win 10 games this year.

Similarly, Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M have some pretty high aspirations for this year as well. This matchup between the Rebels and the Aggies will be fascinating to watch.

With all the excitement in Oxford, it makes sense that this is where College GameDay would be this week.
