Giannis Antetokounmpo teases a future career in politics

Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo joked around about one day running for U.S. president while celebrating his championship at the White House.

The celebration for winning the 2020-21 NBA Championship continues, as the Milwaukee Bucks visited the White House on Nov. 8 to celebrate their momentous achievement.

But being in the political atmosphere got Giannis Antetokounmpo thinking: What if he one day ran for President?

Jokingly, the Greek Freak said he’d “run for office” and would “be the most handsome president ever” before adding on in saying that his brother and Bucks teammate, Thanasis, would be his vice president.

Giannis Antetokounmpo in the White House?

Running for President of the United States is obviously out of the question for Antetokounmpo considering that he was born in Athens, Greece.

If Giannis were to run for some political office, though, he wouldn’t be the first NBA player to do so. Perhaps the most successful NBA player to rise the ranks of politics would be former U.S. Senator Bill Bradley.

Bradley spent his entire NBA career playing for the New York Knicks, winning two championship titles with the team in 1970 and 1973. After retiring in 1977, Bradley ran for a U.S. Senate seat in his adopted home state of New Jersey. Bradley won the seat, winning again in 1984 and 1990. In 1997, Bradley left his seat to do what Antetokounmpo dreams of: running for president of the United States.

Bradley campaigned to be the Democratic Candidate in the 2000 Presidential election, but he eventually lost to Al Gore.

While a presidency is firmly out of the picture, becoming the “Governator” of Wisconsin like Arnold Schwarzenegger did in California is always an option for the Greek Freak. It’s hard to think that, especially after bringing a title to the Bucks, that he and Thanasis wouldn’t have a near-unanimous approval rating.
