As Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has tested positive for COVID-19, when will he be eligible to return?

The Pittsburgh Steelers caught some bad news as starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been placed on the COVID-19 list. As a result, Roethlisberger will be sidelined for Pittsburgh’s game against the Detroit Lions.

Roethlisberger, who has been far from consistent throughout this season and is now 39-years-old, may not be the perfect quarterback, but he still provides Pittsburgh with a better chance of winning than anyone else on the roster.

Unfortunately for Roethlisberger and the Steelers, he’s going to be out this week following that COVID-19 test. But, when will Roethlisberger be able to return to action? When can Pittsburgh fans expect to cheer for Big Ben again?

Well, because of his vaccine status and the NFL’s policy, he might not be sidelined for an extensive period of time.

Ben Roethlisberger COVID update: When will Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback return?

Because Roethlisberger has been vaccinated against COVID-19, he’ll have a chance to return for the Steelers next week when they prepare to face the Los Angeles Chargers. To do that though, Roethlisberger will have to test negative for COVID-19 twice.

The Steelers have been struggling this season and Roethlisberger isn’t exactly what he was, so it remains to be seen as to how much his absence will truly impact their chance to win against Detroit, a team who is winless on the season.
