James Franklin’s reaction to a missed field goal was both not safe for work and epitomized how Penn State football fans are really feeling these days.

With a chance to upset the No. 6 Michigan Wolverines, James Franklin’s Penn State football team is blowing its big opportunity with one special teams gaffe after another.

Down 14-6 to visiting Michigan, Franklin reacted to a bad miss on a field goal attempt off the foot of Jordan Stout. Penn State also blew a golden opportunity to get points in the first half by going with a fake field goal instead of attempting the chip shot on fourth down. All the while, Penn State is letting its once promising season get away from them, as they might fall to 6-4 after this game.

Given how underwhelming the Michigan offense had been all day and you can sense the frustration emanating from Franklin and all of Nittany Lion Nation after this field goal miss.

James Franklin’s NSFW reaction to a missed field goal is both hilarious and sad

Penn State at one time had been a top-four team in the country. Since the Nittany Lions’ hot 5-0 start that included a win at home over Auburn in a Whiteout Game, Penn State has dropped three of its last four and potentially four of its last five if Michigan comes away with a victory in Happy Valley. It is getting late early for Penn State, a team who is the fourth best Big Ten West team.

With rumors of Franklin potentially leaving the program for another high-profile job at USC or even LSU, he is certainly blowing the interview process with his team’s on-field performances of late. Penn State achieved bowl eligibility with a win over Maryland, but the Nittany Lions may lose to all three of their big division rivals this year. They end the season vs. Michigan State at East Lansing.

This has truly been a season of two halves for Franklin’s Penn State football team.
