Manny Diaz had Miami football in prime position to take down Florida State in the rivalry game but, after choking it away, fans want the head coach fired.

Prior to traveling to Tallahassee for a rivalry matchup against Florida State, Miami football head coach Manny Diaz looked as if he might be saving his job. After all, the Hurricanes had notched back-to-back upset wins over NC State and Pitt before skating past Georgia Tech.

That all changed on Saturday evening, though. After Miami fought back from a 20-7 deficit to take a 28-20 lead over their in-state rivals, Diaz horribly mismanaged his timeouts and the clock, seemingly lost all control of his team, and allowed the Seminoles to rally late and ultimately score a come-from-behind win in the rivalry game.

And with that, the Miami football fan base was ready to not let Diaz come back to Coral Gables with the rest of the team.

For the past few weeks, it looked as if Diaz might be cooling off the hot seat. Unfortunately, that took a turn the other direction in this rivalry matchup.

It’s one thing to lose to a rival like Florida State. It’s another thing entirely to mismanage the end of the game in the manner Diaz did, blow a lead, and then let the Seminoles come back and top Miami.

Ultimately, it wouldn’t be a shock if Miami football fans got their wish and this ends up being the last straw for Manny Diaz at The U.
