A COVID-19 outbreak could impact the Texas A&M football team as it gets prepared to face the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl.

The Texas A&M Aggies probably aren’t thrilled to be dealing with a reported COVID-19 outbreak ahead of their bowl game. It appears as if Jimbo Fisher and his Texas A&M football program are putting preparations and practices for the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl on pause as they deal with the outbreak.

According to a Tweet from Billy Liucci, the Aggies have paused bowl preparations and operations ahead of their matchup with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

That’s far from ideal.

According to Liucci, the Aggies have been meeting by using Zoom since Saturday. Liucci also said that multiple position groups “have been hit particularly hard,” though it is not clear what position groups are impacted or to what extent that are impacted.

Even if the Aggies are able to get through this outbreak with their entire roster able to play in the Gator Bowl, losing these practices and bowl preparation time could potentially impact Texas A&M’s ability to win against Wake Forest.

The Demon Deacons are a solid team and they’re not a bunch that A&M can overlook. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out.
