A recent report from PWInsider notes what is next for Cody Rhodes after he left All Elite Wrestling earlier this year.

Earlier in the year, Cody Rhodes announced that he was leaving All Elite Wrestling after over three years as the company’s executive vice president. Upon this announcement, immediate reports indicated that Rhodes was going to be headed to WWE, but there were conflicting reports since.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider provided some clarity on Friday, revealing that Rhodes had indeed signed a contract with WWE around 10-14 days ago. Johnson continued, saying that the plan is for Rhodes to debut during WrestleMania weekend and be a part of the Raw brand.

Report: Cody Rhodes signs with WWE, planned to appear at WrestleMania

Rhodes is set to return to WWE after requesting his release in 2016. But what are the plans for the returning star at WrestleMania 38?

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer said that the impression is that Rhodes’ match at WrestleMania will be against Seth Rollins.

If you watched the March 14 edition of Monday Night Raw, it appears that that is the plan. Being teased as being left off the card, Rollins challenged tag team partner Kevin Owens to a match, with the winner having “Stone Cold” Steve Austin on their talk show at WrestleMania. Rollins appeared to have the match won, but the referee fell to the outside during his pin attempt. A frustrated Rollins became distracted, allowing Owens to hit the Stunner for the win.

After the match, commentator Corey Graves said Rollins’ “WrestleMania dreams were dashed.” Those italicized words were hints towards Rhodes.

There is now clarity regarding Rhodes’s status with WWE. He is signed, per Johnson of PWInsider.
