UNC basketball star Armando Bacot’s first tweet after win over Baylor is gold

UNC star Armando Bacot shares exuberant tweet after an unforgettable upset win over Baylor in overtime, taking the Tar Heels further in the NCAA Tournament. 

Heading into the game, the No. 8 UNC Tar Heels were expected to lose to the No. 1 Baylor Bears. Even though UNC got a significant lead, Baylor pushed through to tie the game in regulation, overcoming a deficit of 25 points in just 10 minutes.

UNC continued fighting to maintain dominance in overtime, clinching a sweet 93-86 victory in the extra minutes. It’s the second upset win the underrated UNC team has pulled in weeks after defeating Duke in Coach K’s last home game, and it’s in large part due to Armando Bacot.

The North Carolina big man was quick to give thanks in their miraculous win, cheering on his team as they advance to the next round of March Madness.

The 22-year-old UNC junior is one of the best players in the competitive ACC, being named to the First Team All-ACC and finishing runner-up for ACC Player of the Year for the 2021-22 season.

Bacot has also made Tar Heel history, scoring his 24th double-double of the season on March 10. Five days before, he scored 23 points and 7 rebounds to defeat Duke in an iconic game. Bacot also set the single-season rebound record with 417 rebounds, and he has his coach to thank for his endurance.

Bacot also helped Team USA win gold at the 2018 FIBA Americas U18 Championship.

Ever the hype man for his Tar Heels, Bacot brings a much-needed presence to UNC that makes them a true Sweet Sixteen contender. Bacot was excited to get the tournament underway, but he still apologized for his aggressive play in the Baylor win.

Bacot has devoted fans who are happy to see him win with the Tar Heels and who are more than forgiving when it comes to fouls derived from hard play.
