Mike Krzyzewski’s career is not over just yet, as the Duke Blue Devils defeated the Michigan State Spartans to advance to the Sweet 16.

Mike Krzyzewski’s coaching career will reach its end whenever the Duke Blue Devils lose their next game in the NCAA Tournament. That did not happen on Sunday.

Duke, the second-seed in the West Region, took on the No. 7 Michigan State Spartans, coached by Tom Izzo. Despite a scare from the Spartans, the Blue Devils are dancing to the Sweet 16, as the they earned the 85-76 win.

North Carolina fans upset that Duke advanced. Michigan fans ecstatic watching Michigan State and Ohio State being eliminated from the NCAA Tournament on the same day. A full range of emotions on Twitter.

Michigan State actually held a 74-72 lead under three minutes remaining following a layup by A.J. Hoggard. Yet, Duke took a 75-74 lead following one made free throw by Trevor Keels and a made jump shot by Paolo Banchero. The Blue Devils pulled away following a made three-pointer by Jeremy Roach to extend the lead to 78-74 with a little over a minute remaining in regulation.

Banchero led the team with 19 points (8-for-14 from field, 2-for-5 from 3-point line). He also recorded seven rebounds and four assists.

Michigan State senior Marcus Bingham Jr. recorded a double-double after scoring 16 points (5-for-12 from field, 2-for-3 from three-point line) and grabbing 10 rebounds.

The Blue Devils will look to continue Coach K’s career with a win in the Sweet 16 against the No. 3 Texas Tech Red Raiders, who defeated the No. 11 Notre Dame Fighting Irish 59-53 on Sunday. That game will take place on Thursday, March 24 at 9:39 p.m. ET.
