The No. 11 Iowa State Cyclones pulled off yet another upset, as they defeated the No. 3 Wisconsin Badgers 54-49.

The 2022 NCAA Tournament has featured plenty of upsets, including No. 2 Kentucky losing to No. 15 Saint Peter’s in the first round and No. 1 Baylor getting eliminated by the No. 8 UNC Tar Heels in the second round. For the No. 3 Wisconsin Badgers, they are being sent home early when they were expected to make a deep run in March Madness.

On Sunday, the Badgers lost 54-49 to the No. 11 Iowa State Cyclones, who eliminated the No. 6 LSU Tigers in the opening round.

The Cyclones held a 27-26 lead at halftime, but Wisconsin took a 28-27 lead on a tip shot by Chris Vogt with over 18-minutes on the clock. Iowa State retook the lead on a three-point shot by Gabe Kalsecheur, and never looked back for the remainder of the game.

Wisconsin struggled on their shots, as they owned a field-goal percentage of 29.8 (14-for-47) and a three-point percentage of 9.1 (2-for-22). Perhaps the most telling is the Badgers committed more turnovers (17) and fouls (18) than they made baskets (14).

Kalsecheur led the way for the Cyclones, as he scored 22 points while shooting 10-for-19 from the field. He also recorded four rebounds, two steals and one assist.

2022 March Madness bracket update: Who does Iowa State play next in NCAA Tournament?

With their first berth in the Sweet 16 since 2016, Iowa State will face the No. 10 Miami Hurricanes, who pulled off the 79-61 upset win over the No. 2 Auburn Tigers. That game will take place on Friday, March 25.

If the Cyclones are to win their Sweet 16 matchup, they will face either the No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks or No. 4 Providence Friars.
