Others might’ve had the Iowa State Cyclones winning their first two games. However, the people that had the two teams meeting for a spot in the Midwest Region Final are likely few and far between.

Yet, that’s the matchup we have on Friday night, March 25. These two teams both exceeded preseason expectations to get into the NCAA Tournament but they’ve continued that trend in the big dance. Miami knocked off No. 2-seed Auburn to advance to this round while Iowa State toppled another favorite, Wisconsin, to punch their ticket to the second weekend of March Madness.

The contest between the Hurricanes and Cyclones in the Sweet 16 will tip-off at approximately 9:59 p.m. ET at the United Center in Chciago, IL. That tip time will likely be moved back a bit, though, as they will wait until 30 minutes after the conclusion of Providence vs. Kansas.

Miami vs. Iowa State prediction

As mentioned, the big bullet point you’ll see for this matchup is the Cyclones defense and how the Hurricanes guards will perform against that if they try to penetrate and what kind of success they’ll have in doing so.

With that said, the irony is that the Miami defense might be the biggest factor. The scoring prowess of Charlie Moore and the guards from The U is in focus, but that group has also been impressive defensively throughout the regular season and early in the NCAA Tournament. That could be critical against an Iowa State team that, frankly, has often struggled to find their mojo offensively.
