Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks are headed to the National Final after their win over Villanova as he seeks his second national championship in his third trip.

The 2022 Final Four officially began on Saturday, Apr. 2, and the National Final is now halfway full. In the opening game of the night, the No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks cruised to an 81-65 victory over the No. 2 Villanova Wildcats. Now, the Jayhawks await the winner between No. 2 Duke and No. 8 North Carolina later in the night.

Head coach Bill Self is now one win away from winning his second National Championship.

Bill Self NCAA Championships: Kansas coach seeks 2nd nationa title

Self has one national title to his credit. Back in 2008, the Jayhawks defeated the Memphis Tigers 75-68 in overtime.

The head coach for Kansas did make it to the National Final in 2012, but they lost 67-56 to the No. 1 Kentucky Wildcats.

If the pandemic didn’t see the NCAA Tournament canceled in 2020, Self may have won the national championship that year.

Self will look to win the second national title of his career on Monday night. They will have to see whether it will come against the Tar Heels or the Blue Devils that are rallying behind head coach Mike Krzyzewski, who is set to retire at the end of the season.
