The Kansas basketball Twitter account gladly shared the news that the Jayhawks won the 2022 NCAA national championship.

For the first time since 2008, the Kansas Jayhawks can call themselves NCAA national champions.

On Monday, the Jayhawks defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels, 72-69, to win the 2022 NCAA national championship. It was a historic victory for Kansas as they had the biggest comeback in the history of the title game, overcoming a 16-point deficit to North Carolina.

The Jayhawks shared the great news with all of their followers on Twitter — they were national champions.

Entering the tournament as the No. 1 seed in the Midwest Region, they made it all the way to the national championship game. They got past Texas Southern, Creighton, Providence, Miami (FL) and Villanova to reach the national final.

Things look pretty grim for the Jayhawks entering halftime as they trailed the Tar Heels, 40-25. Yet, they bounced back in the second half to have the historic comeback.

David McCormack tied with Jalen Wilson for a team-high 15 points on the night. However, McCormack secured a double-double by grabbing 10 rebounds.
