White Sox Tim Anderson suspended by MLB for flipping off Cleveland fans

Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson was suspended for one game by MLB after flipping off Cleveland Guardians fans.

The Chicago White Sox did not have a good road trip to Cleveland to face the Guardians, as they lost all three games. But, one player’s actions during one of those contests resulted in him being disciplined by MLB.

White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson was handed a one-game suspension and a fine for “inappropriate actions towards fans” during Wednesday’s game against the Guardians. That action was flipping off Cleveland fans  at Progressive Field.

Anderson is appealing the suspension.

During the broadcast of the Apr. 20 doubleheader game, Anderson was shown on camera, where he was shown flipping the bird to the crowd. The incident occurred during the first game of the doubleheader, where Anderson committed three errors, two of which were fielding and one on a throw. The Guardians won that game 11-1.

Anderosn was suspended for Chicago’s first two games of the season for making contact with an umpire late in the 2021 season. It was originally set for three games, but an appeal reduced it to two.

Since Anderson is appealing the suspension, he was eligible to play for the White Sox on Friday, Apr. 22 against the Minnesota Twins.

Entering Apr. 22, Anderson is slashing .333/.351/.528 while recording one home run, five RBI and 12 hits.
