The Alabama Crimson Tide have tied the Miami Hurricanes for a remarkable NFL Draft pick streak. Nick Saban should be proud.

For the 14th time in 14 NFL Drafts, Nick Saban’s Alabama football program has managed to produce at least one first round pick in the Draft. Just having any player picked in the first round of the draft is an impressive accomplishment, but Saban and the Crimson Tide have found a way to make this happen on a regular basis.

This streak was continued on as Evan Neal was selected by the New York Giants with the seventh pick of the first round.

Thanks to Neal (and all of those other first round picks dating back to the 2009 NFL Draft), Saban and the Crimson Tide have now managed to tie the Miami Hurricanes for a streak of consecutive drafts with at least one player being picked in the first round.

Interestingly enough, Alabama’s streak started up the year after Miami’s came to an end.

And of course, over the years, Saban has developed a reputation as an incredible recruiter. Recruiting well leads to wins and also produces a ton of NFL Draft picks. As Cole Cubelic points out, Saban has helped 45 guys get picked up in the first round (expect that number to go up soon).

Saban’s dominance with the Crimson Tide has been impressive (and often infuriating) for many to watch and keep up with. However, it’s something that everybody should be able to take a step back and acknowledge.
