Mets continue to be the unluckiest team ever with another pitcher injury

The New York Mets starting rotation was once again bitten by the injury bug, this time to Tylor Megill again.

The New York Mets have been the best team in the National League through the first two months of the season. They managed to do so with huge injuries to their starting rotation, with Jacob deGrom not even starting in a game this season. Unfortunately, the team was hit with another injury to their starter.

During the team’s June 16 game against the Milwaukee Brewers, Tylor Megill left in the fourth inning with the team’s training staff. It was revealed, per MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo, that Megill exited the contest with right shoulder discomfort and that he will undergo tests the next day.

Mets starting rotation suffers yet another injury to starting rotation

This is less than ideal for New York, considering they just got Megill back from injury not too long ago.

The 26-year-old was diagnosed with right biceps tendinitis back in mid-May, and he was sidelined up until he made his return on June 10 against the Los Angeles Angels. In that start, Megill struck out four batters and surrendered two earned runs on five hits in 3.1 innings. The Mets won that game 7-3.

Prior to leaving with the injury, Megill surrendered four earned runs on four hits (one home run), and struck out six batters in 3.1 innings.

The team is still waiting for deGrom to make his eventual debut after dealing with a stress fracture of his scapula. Max Scherzer is currently working his way back from an oblique injury. Now, they must await for Megill’s test results and hope for the best.

It’s the worst possible time for the Mets pitching staff to get bitten by the injury bug, especially with the Atlanta Braves surging on a lengthy winning streak.
