The Miami Hurricanes football program was able to secure the commitment of five-star offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa.

Looking to bring their football program back to its former heights, the Miami Hurricanes were able to pry away former alum Mario Cristobal from the Oregon Ducks to become their head coach, effectively replacing Manny Diaz after three years. The Hurricanes were not only getting a winning head football coach in Cristobal, but also a top-tier recruiter. That has shown with their latest commitment.

On July 4, the Hurricanes were able to secure the commitment of Class of 2023 five-star offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa. The recruit chose Miami over the likes of Alabama, Tennessee, USC, Florida, and Hawaii.

Standing at 6-foot-5, weighing 330 pounds out of IMG Academy, Mauigoa was ranked as the top offensive tackle in the entire 2023 class, the third-ranked prospect in all of Florida, and No. 9 recruit in the entire nation, per 247Sports Composite.

Mauigoa is the first five-star recruit Cristobal has received the commitment of since arriving at Miami. A truly huge get for the Hurricanes, who now climb up to No. 8 on 247Sports’ 2023 recruiting class rankings.
