The 2022 NHL Draft officially kicked off on Thursday, July 7, live from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
This event will start of with the crowd heavily anticipated, as the Canadiens hold the first-overall pick by way of winning the NHL Draft Lottery. The team could go with the consensus top prospect in center Shane Wright, or Slovakian winger Juraj Slafkovsky.
Not only will there be picks be made, but there will be plenty of trades. Whether that is a team trading draft capital to climb up the draft board or to acquire a star player from another organization. It always makes for an entertaining two days, especially with the NHL free agent signing period beginning on July 13.

TRADES: New York Islanders trade No. 13 pick to Montreal Canadiens in exchange for defenseman Alexander Romanov and No. 98 pick.
Montreal Canadiens trade No. 13Ā and 66 picks to Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for center Kirby Dach.
TRADE: Toronto Maple Leafs trade 25th overall pick and goaltender Petr Mrazek to Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for 38th overall pick.
TRADE: Edmonton Oilers trade the 29th overall pick, a 2024 third-round pick, a 2025 second-round pick, and winger Zack Kassian to the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for the 32nd overall pick.
